Abstract:

A seminar which examined if the book is really dead? Or is it just resting? The course looked at how books have been transformed over the centuries from Guttenberg's Bible to Gaga's confessional to Amazon's Kindle. They questioned what a book is,and if we love them so much, why they are being threatened with extinction. The students looked at the craft of book making, the art of book writing, the economics of publishing, the politics of authorship, and the power of the reading. |
