Abstract

Gastrointestinal nematodes are a type of parasite that sheep and goats can pick up while grazing on pasture. Clinical symptoms range from being unapparent to severe diarrhea, weight loss or death. Veterinarians need to be able to count the number of eggs in feces to be able to tell how many adult parasites are in the animal. This video describes the best ways to collect fecal samples. Testing feces for parasites helps farmers identify infected animals so they can be treated with dewormers (antihelminths).
