Title: Pepper Trials 1974
Author: Muehmer, J.; de Boer, S.; Spicer, D.
Abstract: In Co-ordinated Field Trials 10 advanced cultivars, and fifteen additional observational lines were tested at the Horticultural Experiment Station, Simcoe, and on the campus grounds of the Ridgetown College of Agricultural Technology. The results of the co-ordinated trials on Ridgetown campus will be reported here only. In addition thirty-four pepper cultivars, submitted for trial by seed companies and public breeders, were screened for yield ability and tested for adaptability to Southwestern Ontario climate as well as judged for use in the processing industry. Twenty-four lines selected from the U.S.D.A., P.I. lists after screening in 1971, were selected for possible use in specialty packs for Ontario processors; no detailed reports of the latter tests will be published at this time. Two selections out of this program will be turned over to seed companies.
