Title: New DNA barcoding method contributes to identifying chicken parasites

Abstract: New identification methods could aid in evolutionary studies as well as enable researchers to quickly characterize unknown parasitic species. This faster, more concise method utilizing shorter sequences in mitochondrial COI could potentially improve epidemiology diagnostics. Mitochondrial COI could become an integral piece of DNA bar-coding, species identification and phylogenetic investigation, particularly within the phylum Apicomplexa.
