Environmental Sustainability

The Environmental Sustainability research theme focuses on maintaining the ability of natural resources — soil, air, water and biodiversity — to support and strengthen the agriculture, food and bioproduct sectors, and rural communities. To protect Ontario's diverse environment, researchers provide science-based direction for government policies and legislation. Population growth presents opportunities for new markets and challenges for agriculture and the environment. The OMAFRA-U of G Partnership aims to balance the needs of people and the agri-food industry with environmental priorities in order to achieve sustainable agriculture and food production.
