Abstract
This thesis is a collection of poems set in and around the Alberta and Saskatchewan Oilfields. The poems deal primarily with issues of masculinity, isolation, labour, violence, sex and repetition. The style of these poems is best described as narrative lyric and they aim to use simple language to create an accumulating narrative in which each poem further familiarizes the reader with the world and industry of the thesis.
