Title: Newcomers and the Digital Divide
Author: Lukawiecki, Jessica; Bedi, Gurpreet; Khan, Aiza
Abstract: This report was prepared for, and in partnership with the Guelph-Wellington Local Immigration Partnership (GWLIP). This project aimed to understand the challenges and opportunities around the “digital divide” and digital literacy for newcomers accessing settlement services during the COVID-19 pandemic. Local service-providers were interviewed in March 2022 to learn about challenges faced by newcomers and gain insight into organizational best practices for overcoming the “digital divide” as a barrier to accessing settlement services.
