Title: Effects of Rainfall After Final Fungicide Application on Snow Mould Control, 2000-2001

Abstract: This study evaluates the effectiveness of six treatments (Combinations of rainfall and fungicides) in the control of snow mould disease on a patch of seven-year-old creeping bentgrass. Typhula incarnata and Microdochium nivale were applied to the creeping bentgrass in the fall of 2000. The first treatment of Nutri-Q0-0-5 (N-P-K) with 5% quintozene (= PCNB =pentachloronitrobenzene) at 4.6 kg / 100 m2 was also applied at this time. The first evaluation for snow mould disease was taken the following spring after the snow melted and in late spring after greenup. The majority of the quintozene treatments were seen to provide adequate suppression of disease when applied in the fall three weeks before snow cover regardless of rainfall. Treatments applied five weeks prior to snow cover produced reduced efficiency.
