Abstract: Older adult use of sexually explicit material (SEM) is under-researched. The current exploratory cross-sectional study aimed to explore SEM use among adults 65 years and older. 114 participants answered a survey to address six research questions on SEM use, various correlates to use, access and barriers to use, and preferences in SEM. Results indicated that participants are using SEM. Adults are accessing SEM 11.56 (SD = 10.79) times per month and spending about 25.63 (SD = 20.76) minutes per session. Results also indicated participants, prefer actors in SEM to be 35-50 years old, prefer mature, amateur and MILF genres, and primarily access through online videos. Some barriers to use were also experienced. Users on average were younger and more likely to be men. Results found expand upon knowledge in an under-researched area in the field and help provide further understanding of older adults and SEM use.
