Title: The Alacro Triathlon Bicycle Design

Abstract: This paper introduces a design solution for a bicycle that will place less strain on overused muscle groups during a triathlon. The Alacro design stands out from the standard diamond bicycles currently on the market. The sleek monoque carbon fibre design of the Alacro provides a light weight, sturdy corrosion resistant frame, with a unique geometry. The Alacro geometry improves upon the standard diamond frame by eliminating the seat tube and seat stays. Through mathematical models the Alacro was found to require nearly 15% less power input from the rider than the standard triathlon bicycle at average racing speeds. FEA modeling and manual stress calculations confirm the structural stiffness of the frame design.
