Title: Impact of livestock manure and fertilizer application on nitrate contamination of groundwater final report
Author: Younie, M. F.; Burton, D. L.; Kachanoski, R. G.; Beauchamp, E. G.; Gillham, R. W.
Abstract: This study examined nitrate leaching out of the root zone and nitrogen supply to corn from two types of manure and from inorganic nitrogen fertilizer. The study took place on a silt loam soil at the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food Research Station, Elora, ON. The soils of this area have developed from a variety of glacial deposits and thus consist of a wide range of textures and drainage classes. The area has been traditionally cropped to corn which is used to supply the increasing amount of livestock operations in the area.
