Abstract
As part of an investigation to assess the trophic status of the Muskoka Lakes - a lake system located in the Precambrian Shield region of southern Ontario a multi-year study was initiated in 1969 to determine whether phosphorus removal effected at sewage treatment plants discharging to the catchment basin of Gravenhurst Bay of Lake Muskoka would alleviate severe growths of "water-bloom" forming blue-green algae.
