Abstract

The objectives of this study were: 1) Initiate a cost sharing study concerning the effect of removing livestock from watercourses on both water quality and aquatic habitat. The study will determine changes in stream morphology, water temperature, water quality, fish population and species. 2.0 Continue a study in cooperation with the local Health Unit, to determine the extent and impact of unacceptable private septic systems within rural geographical areas within the Authority boundaries. Develop possible strategies to address the problem of septic systems. 3.0 Conduct a study in co-operation with the MOE Microbiology Lab to determine the effect of various nutrient types and concentrations on bacterial survival. Using bacterial chambers set up with differing levels of nutrients, examine the survival patterns of bacteria under the four seasonal temperature conditions. 4.0 Continue to monitor background and runoff event conditions in the Kintore Creek east and west sub-basins. 5.0 Provide an interim report on the effects of soil conservation practices on subwatershed water quality. 6.0 Provide laboratory support costs for water sample analysis. 7.0 Fanshawe Lake water sampling program.
