Title: Canada animal manure management guide
Author: Agriculture Canada
Abstract: The purpose of this guide is to focus attention on those practices that provide a reasonable yet environmentally sound basis for manure management. It gives descriptions of alternate practices which, though not yet commonly employed, may prove useful to both the agricultural community and to those who plan, regulate or assess animal manure management systems. However, the guide is not a detailed design manual, rather it provides a common basis for understanding manure management practices across Canada. It is a place to start and should be used with that in mind. Finally, this publication is intended as a common foundation for new or revised national, provincial and other jurisdictional regulations, codes or guidelines on animal manure management, that eventually can be made consistent with one another.
