dc.description.abstract A study was conducted at the Greenbelt Farm of the Animal Research Institute of Agriculture Canada to determine pollutant transport to subsurface and surface waters in an integrated farm operation involving large-scale livestock operations. Objectives of the study were: 1) to determine if subsurface pollutant transport in a small field could be extrapolated to a large field, other conditions such as manuring, cropping practice, soil characteristics, etc., being the same for both fields. 2) to determine the difference in pollutant transport in tile drainage water under a largely coarse-textured soil compared to a fine-textured soil under similar conditions of manuring and cropping practice. 3) to determine pollutant transport to surface water in a 594 ha drainage area under a closely controlled cropping operation.
