Title: Big Boy
Author: Achi, Talal
Department: School of English and Theatre Studies
Program: Creative Writing
Advisor: Gilbert, Sky
Abstract: This thesis manuscript is a collection of short stories. Unlike some writers, I have never found something I would call “my own voice.” My narrative voice varies, often drastically, from story to story. I’m ok with that; until “my own voice” implacably imposes itself upon my work, I see no reason to force the issue. There are themes and ideas common to many of these pieces; some of these are: God, souls, metaphysical uncertainty, self-absorption, relationships between family members, relationships between lovers, relationships between people and animals.
