dc.description.abstract | An Indo-Canadian crime drama set in the suburbs of Brampton, Ontario, a duo of mob cleaners uncovers a conspiracy that threatens to pull them apart after they clean up an honour killing. The Cleaner explores the following themes: shifting societal and cultural definitions of honour, masculinity, gender issues, violence against women, xenophobia, and identity. It looks at the contemporary Indian diaspora of Canada and interrogates the conflicting ideologies of separate generations. It seeks to add a new and diverse narrative to the Canadian crime fiction landscape. | en_US |
