Title: Future Directions for One Health and Disaster Management/ Disaster Risk Reduction
Author: Vroegindewey, Gary
Abstract: Presentation Abstract: One Health has evolved to address local, national and international issues. It has expanded from its inception to take into consideration economic, social, political, cultural, and religious arenas that must also be considered for effective and efficient preparedness and response. A new model uses biological systems to demonstrate the characteristics required to achieve resilience. The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 is setting an agenda for the future. These priorities as well as guidelines such as those developed by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) will have impacts on disaster response, production practices, and trade from the local producer up to the national veterinary service level.
