dc.description.abstractStreets today have been designed to accommodate vehicles and infrastructure, while pedestrians and cyclists are given limited consideration which has negatively shaped the livability and sustainability of our communities. This study identifies how best practices and techniques, specifically green infrastructure and accessibility features, can enhance the livability and sustainability of streets in Southern Ontario. Using case study analysis of successful street design projects, data was collected through questionnaires provided to senior landscape architects with expertise in streetscape design and also through the analysis of relevant literature. The research identifies key landscape architectural practices and techniques within street design that contribute to a thriving community, while also identifying and addressing the needs and difficulties faced by the general public within these streetscapes. These themes contribute to understanding the importance of street design while improving livability and sustainability in communities, with emphasis on using best practices such as green infrastructure and accessibility.en_US
