Abstract
This thesis comprises a collection of poems that explore of the sport of cycling. The first sequence focuses on themes of flying, gravity, death, birds, and bicycles. The second sequence centres on the life of Italian cyclist Fausto Coppi, who rose to prominence in the WWII era, and has held an unique and celebrated place within the culture of the sport ever since.
