Abstract
An Even Quieter Silence is a fiction novel that explores themes of gender identity, queerness, mental health, and belonging. The novel follows Griffin, a young non-binary person, as they attempt to adjust to life in Toronto after moving from a small Gulf Island on the west coast. When Griff’s reality starts to fall apart, they must seek out queer community in order to re-build both their life and their identity. The novel draws inspiration from the rich history of queer magic realism and speculative fiction in English literature.
