Abstract

This thesis explores the lives of four individuals who stayed in a homeless shelter in Guelph when they were in their teens. Glass and Lead is a full-length dramatic piece that tells its story using a blend of overlapping monologue and naturalistic dialogue. The script investigates themes such as sexuality, power dynamics in relationships, and legacy and memory. Now adults, the characters must confront that the perceptions they each held of an esteemed figure in their childhood might not be correct. The characters each only hold part of the story, and the audience will be forced to make choices about who to listen to at different points in the script as they complete the narrative.
