Abstract

Bacterial colonies have now been lysed and absorbed and the fungal hyphae themselves have now been emptied of contents with all avaailable nutrients translocated elsewhere for growth and/or reproduction. The small bundles of empty absorption hyphae outline the size and shape of the bacterial microcolonies that have been destroyed and absorbed. Note that there has been no proliferation of fungal growth in the vicinity of the bacterial colonies that have been destroyed.
