Abstract

The following study evaluated the performance of a sponsored fertilizer when applied to creeping bentgrass on a putting green turf. Data was collected on the shoot growth rate, strength, colour, uniformity, quality, and density of the affected grass. 6 treatments were created, 2 of which were the sponsored fertilizer 1 control and the rest were IBDU, an industry standard. The results showed a positive non-linear correlation between canopy reflectance and shoot growth. The effectiveness of treatments based on the NDVI was as follows: B+C2, B+C1 > IBDU, A1, A2 >> control. The effectiveness based on dry matter accumulation was (rough data with statistical overlap): 1BDU > B+C1 > A1, A2 > control 07 > control 06. Discrepancies in the results were attributed to the small sample size, as well as, noise in clipping data when compared to NDVI values.
