This material is a summary on the first phases of tissue culture research at the Horticultural Experiment Station, Simcoe, Ontario. The objectives of this research program were to develop aseptic nodal culture for rapid multiplication of indexed material, to develop the interface between test tube and greenhouse environment, and to integrate with then current multiplication methods in the greenhouse. Newer Canadian cultivars were being used for the main part of this program.
