dc.description.abstractThis thesis describes the feasibility of designing and developing a technique, for more transparent access, to spatial data sets distributed at multiple Web sites. It is achieved, by integrating existing stand-alone web-based spatial information systems (Web sites), into an integrated spatial information system. The technique is based on CORBA, Java and Web technologies. With more transparent access, every data access detail is well hidden from the user. Hence, the data can be more accessible, more reliable, more efficient, less costly and better used in addressing environmental problems.en_US
