This report is a brief summary of research during 1982 and 1983 at the Horticultural Experiment Station, Simcoe, Ontario on production of tubers from test-tube plants and of Elite class seed tubers. Production of tubers in pots was investigated as a means of obtaining tubers (base tubers) from test-tube plants. The objectives of the study were to develop procedures for production of tubers in pots from plants originating in vitro, to obtain estimates of base tuber production from several cultivars and evaluate suitability for seed production in Ontario, and to conduct growth regulator trials to manipulate tuber set.
