Abstract

Fabrications is a collection of poetry about desire and infestation, memory and sensation, textiles and touch—what we might make, make up, or unmake in our social practices, our knotting and twining ourselves with others. Through a writing practice of alternating layers of relation, description, and sensation, Fabrications looks for intimacies between textiles and text, seams and sickness, fabric and sex. Each poem is a sheer dress, a shadowy veil, a closet stuffed with thrifted finds, a picnic blanket, a loose thread. The textile offers an unruly pattern for the queer unraveling of gender and sexuality and in Fabrications, I explore and contribute to a poetics able to nurture queer and disabled community, resonance, and resistance.
