Abstract: This thesis is an investigation of the Canadian Armed Forces’ participation in and experience of the armed conflict in Kandahar, Afghanistan. The exploration and findings are presented via a three-part fictional novel and are based on the author’s own experiences as an Intelligence Officer with the Canadian Army, as well as subsequent research and creative studies. The novel follows Charles Company and their Second-in-Command, protagonist Captain Hailey Ross, as the Company undertakes Op Legacy, the last combat operation of the Canadian Armed Forces’mission in southern Kandahar in late 2011.
