Abstract

The highlight of this issue is the success of the 15th annual College Royal and the Conversazione. The Editorial comments on the necessity of learning German for translating research reports. Articles pertain to the benefits of decentralized cities, a student's travel diary of bicycling through Europe, and the history of the Conversat. Agricultural articles address poultry house ventilation, the benefits of a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree, and soil science research for tobacco growers. Of interest, is an article on Jacobine Jones' bronze sculpture of the Clydesdale, Bessie Mark. The English column highlights the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Massey Hall lectures held on campus. Brothers Chippy and Chap Chapman produce the Sports column and provide the team results for basketball, wrestling, boxing, fencing, swimming, and hockey. The Literature column includes book reviews, and reviews of the production of the Merchant of Venice and the inter-year debates. Campus news comments on the visit to Queen's University and some of the peculiar questions Queens' students had for the O. A. C. students. The centrefold is devoted to a summary of the Conversazione. The Alumni column highlights the activities of various alumni associations and provides alumni updates. The Macdonald Institute column reports on the new food laboratory with the latest appliances and updates on the Junior Girls Dance and Presto Club. The Alumnae column comments on the Conversat and reprints a letter from five graduates attending Acadia University. Club news provides updates on the clubs for biology, agronomy, Student Christian Movement, Trent Institute, and chemistry. The Ontario Veterinary College column includes an article on wildlife conservation.
